Sah-B, born in Newark, NJ, and raised in East Orange, found early inspiration in hip-hop legends like Roxanne Shanté, Salt-N-Pepa, and Sparky D, penning her first rhymes at age 11. By 14, she joined Sport D’s Revolutionary Posse, alongside DoitAll Du of Lords of the Underground (LOTUG) and Redman. Introduced to Marley Marl during her time at Montclair State, Sah-B’s lyrical talent landed her a spot on LOTUG’s debut album and a deal with Reprise/Warner Brothers. Although her anticipated album was shelved due to label politics, Sah-B made a name in the underground circuit, touring Europe and making history with LOTUG as the first American group to perform in Luanda, Angola. At 25, she pivoted to education, earning a sociology degree magna cum laude and certifications in special education and mathematics. Now blending hip-hop and education, Sah-B’s project Success Above Hurt, is a literary Hip Hop album that reflects her resilience, artistry, and humanitarian spirit.
